90 points - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Numerous picking passes from the various blocks throughout the ranch and many different vinification strategies provide multiple layers in this estate syrah. In the cellar this wine saw whole cluster fermentation, co-fermentation with viognier and roussanne, coupled with roughly 30% new French oak in large format barrels (300L and 400L). Fresh blueberry, incense, smoke, and roasted meat lead the way in this bold wine with palate- coating chalky tannins.
Soil Type: Linne Clay Loam - this whitish gray soil contains limestone pieces beginning 18”-24” below the surface. The presence of limestone captures and preserves the freshness in this wine, and being a heavier soil lends itself to a rounder mouthfeel.
