We call this wine our “Barbareño” blend. The name “Barbareño” refers to those native to Santa Barbara. Composed of 75% Syrah and 25% Petite Sirah, this wine offers beautiful aromatics of blueberry, blackberry, lavender, and plum blossom. Additional hints of cedar and coffee bean, alongside more savory notes of beef bouillon and cracked pepper, provide the complexity and layers within our flagship red wine. Full bodied with chalky tannins and balanced acidity bringing length and freshness. This 2014 vintage is supple and beautiful, one of the more polished of all our Barbareno offerings. Aged in both large format (400L) puncheons and (228L) barrels for 22 months, 100% French oak and 30% new.
Linne Clay Loam - this whitish gray soil contains limestone pieces beginning 18”-24” below the surface. The presence of limestone captures and preserves the freshness in this wine, and being a heavier soil lends itself to a rounder mouthfeel.
Santa Lucia Clay Loam - This soil lends itself to brighter, floral aromatics and lower pH. Being a heavier soil it also lends itself to a rounder mouthfeel.
