2013 "RR" Sauvignon Blanc
Bronze Medal - 2015 San Francisco International Wine Competition
This blend of 79% Sauvignon Blanc and 21% Semillon was harvested in multiple passes and fermented in numerous lots applying stainless steel and concrete tank fermentation with barrel fermentation in 228L barrique. Left on light lees for 8 months before filtration and bottling.
The wine tradiates brightly with wonderful aromatic lift of lemongrass, ginger, crushed rock, oyster shell, and great depth of fruit. The palate has tremendous precision and violin string tension bringing grapefruit, Granny Smith apple, hints of papaya and bosc pear. Wonderful length and vibrant acidity from the Sauvignon Blanc is complimented by the round mid palate richness of Semillon.
Soil Type: Mocho Loam - this sandy, alluvial soil is fine-grained, fertile and deposited by water flowing from the Santa Ynez River. Due to their sandy nature, there is little water retention in these soils which creates higher aromatics and density in the fruit.
